Sam Raimi Officially Confirms Universal Is Interested In A DARKMAN Sequel!

32yrs later, will we see Sam Raimi return to the Darkman franchise for a reboot/sequel? Universal Pictures seems to want it to happen.

Sam Raimi’s name is synonymous in two genres of film these days, Horror and Super Hero flicks. He just directed Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness for Marvel and did the original 3 Tobey Maguire starring Spider-Man flicks back in the day so he knows his way around capes to say the least. One character, in particular, bridged both Horror and Super Hero and combined them into a crazy flick called Darkman.

The rumor of a possible sequel for Darkman started floating around last week and in fact, original star Liam Neeson was recently asked about a potential sequel, and he said that he’d be “very interested in reading the script” for such a project.

In a new chat with The Wrap this week, Raimi indicates that sequel talks are underway!

Raimi tells The Wrap, “Yes. Universal is talking about a Darkman sequel.”

“There’s a producer attached,” Raimi continues this intriguing tease. “I haven’t heard the story yet or gone into it, I’ve been so busy with [Doctor Strange]. But I think it’s cool.”

Liam Neeson played Peyton Westlake/Darkman in the original 1990 movie, “A brilliant scientist left for dead who returns to exact revenge on the people who burned him alive.”

Darkman was followed by two sequels – Darkman II: The Return of Durant in 1995 and Darkman III: Die Darkman Die in 1996 – with Arnold Vosloo taking over the titular role.
