"THE SAWYER MASSACRE" IS RAISING FUNDS TO CARVE OUT A TCM PREQUEL
Nothing is certain except death, taxes, and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE content! We at Macabre Daily love us some good old-fashioned chainsaw glory, and while some of us were disappointed with NETFLIX’s recent sequel it did deliver on its namesake in the “massacre” department. We are also big supporters of independent horror, and it just so happens that the worlds of TCM and INDIEGOGO have collided with THE SAWYER MASSACRE.
This TCM fan film serves as a prequel to the original and is being helmed by Canadian filmmaker STEVEN MERLO. The 2nd trailer for the feature-length film is below along with a synopsis of the film and a link to donate to the Indiegogo page. If you mess with Texas you might want to consider messing up some funds to help these folks reach their final goal!
What time period is The Sawyer Massacre set in?
The Sawyer Massacre is set on June 30th, 1965. 8 years before the original film.
Is The Sawyer Massacre an origin story to the original?
Although our film is set before the events of the original it's not really an origin story. Some new ideas come in to play but it definitely doesn't give a major backstory to the Sawyer family.
Are there any plans to make a sequel to this after it's release?
There are no such plans at this time and it is very unlikely that this team would be directly involved in a future sequel but we do encourage other aspiring filmmakers to create their own vision in the TCM universe and if someone was to make a sequel to our film we'd be very flattered and supportive of it.
