SDCC2023: Horror Collectibles Round Up - SUPER 7, NECA, MONDO, And More!

San Diego Comic Con was a whirlwind of new and exciting horror merch the likes only SDCC can provide and we were fortunate enough to check out a few of the staple toy companies at the show. NECA, Mezco,Hiya Toys, and more were bringing the goods this year for Horror fans and we have it all for you below.

Hiya Toys

Released last year, Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre operated as a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original classic, with Mark Burnham playing an older version of Leatherface. This version was the focal point for Hiya Toys during SDCC as you can see below.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘s Leatherface is getting a mini-sized 1/18 scale action figure as part of Hiya’s “Exquisite Mini” line, which measures just 4.72″ tall and features an impressive 15 points of articulation. As you may recall, this toy was actually first shown off last year, but the planned April 2023 release date was ultimately shifted back a little bit.

Leatherface from the Netflix movie is also getting a bloody variant of the “Exquisite Mini” figure, which features Melody’s decapitated head from the movie’s bloody final moments!

Even cooler is the “Exquisite Super” version of the bloody variant, which is super-sized to the 1/12 scale. The figure also includes Melanie’s severed head, plus blood effects.

And Hiya Toys is also showing off a prototype for an “Exquisite Mini” figure of Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Syndicate Collectibles

The 1984 cult classic GHOULIES got some love during SDCC as well and we were stoked to see it. New company Syndicate Collectibles is on hand at San Diego Comic-Con and they showed off a wave of four upcoming action figures based on the original Ghoulies.

“Syndicate Collectibles is the new company from Jerry Macaluso, formerly of SOTA Toys and Pop Culture Shock Collectibles. They’re tackling licenses that have been in dire need of collectibles, and revisiting some old favorites.”

Preview the Ghoulies toys below, and thank ToyArk for the photo from the SDCC floor!

NECA

One company that has always brought their A game to SDCC is of course NECA and this year was no different from years past. From Nosferatu to Robocop, all the new merch coming from NECA will definitely have our wallets hurting in the coming months.

The Ultimate Count Orlok from Nosferatu and Ultimate Professor Burke from London After Midnight action figures are listed as “Coming Soon”.

NECA has made many CHUCKY related figures over the past few years but now we get a new look at our favorite killer doll. Coming soon, NECA’s “Ultimate Season 1 Chucky” is based on the debut season of the SYFY/USA series. The upcoming action figure includes FOUR different heads based on different Chucky looks throughout Season 1, and yes they’ve included Chucky’s gruesome fire-melted head!

Mancini explained the look in 2021, “What I try to do is [always] present a new look for Chucky. Some kind of damage or injury that allows us to make him a little creepier.”

The “Ultimate Season 1 Chucky” action figure from NECA will also include an alternate battle-damaged arm, as well as a couple needles.

For many years, actor Peter Weller would not let any company use his likeness to create Robocop figures. NECA has made many in the past but nothing like what we saw at SDCC last week.

Depicting Peter Weller BEFORE he was reborn as RoboCop, these new ultimate figures are the first we get of Alex Murphy and they are brutal!

The upcoming action figure is based on Alex Murphy’s shockingly gruesome murder in the original classic, featuring alternate heads and even battle-damaged gore effects.

An alternate chest piece is riddled with bullet wounds, for starters, while an alternate half-arm allows you to recreate Alex Murphy’s bloody demise from the movie. This is a bloody figure and we totally dig it!

MONDO

Mondo doesn’t usually do Horror figures but this year at SDCC they came correct with two new ones that already have our money. The two upcoming horror figures on display at Mondo’s booth are the killer doll M3GAN from this year’s M3GAN, as well as John Nada from John Carpenter’s They Live.

Both figures pitch perfectly capture the characters, featuring incredible head sculpts, cloth outfits, and various accessories including Nada’s sunglasses and guns.

The M3GAN figure even comes with a “battle-damaged” alternate head.

SUPER 7

And if that wasn’t enough horror business, the fine fiends over at Super 7 are bringing the original horror punk band, THE MISFITS to action figure infamy with their first announced wave of figures.

What’s really rad is they have Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only involved in the project and are using the Masters Of The Universe style sculpts to really make the figures pop. There’s no official release date as of yet but we’re eager to see what wave 2 would be if wave 1 is this epic.

Wave 1 features lead singer, Glenn Danzig in his various iterations with The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig as well as Jerry Only with his trusty bass and a Crimson Ghost or “Fiend” figure.
