SEVERIN Revives "FEAR IN THE PHILIPPINES" Collection With Improved Restorations
As we close the chapter on 2024, Severin Films is wasting no time giving film fans something to get excited about even before the New Year has officially started. After another banner year that saw the release of such requested titles like Dario Argento’s “Deep Cuts” and the second volume of the Folk Horror box set “All The Haunts Be Ours Vol. 2” (read our review) showing the diversity of films that Severin has in their stable. As the restoration ability improves, many boutique labels are looking back on previously released films to see which ones will benefit most from the advancement in quality. Good news for fans of the long OOP “Blood Island Collection,” as it is getting the updated treatment with some exciting additions!

From The Press Release
Between 1959 and 1971, Filipino filmmakers Eddie Romero and Gerry de León – along with Hemisphere Pictures marketing consultant Samuel M. Sherman – unleashed THE BLOOD ISLAND FILMS, a monsters-and-mayhem quartet that remains among the most deliriously schlocky classics in horror history. The two-disc set of all four films – scanned uncut in 4K with improved color and audio plus over 8 combined hours of special features – will be available exclusively at the Severin Films Webstore with pre-order beginning 12/30.
The Blood Island series launched with TERROR IS A MAN, a “quite terrifying” (The New York Times) take on Island Of Dr. Moreau starring Francis Lederer (THE RETURN OF DRACULA). BRIDES OF BLOOD stars John Ashley (THE TWILIGHT PEOPLE) and Beverly Powers (SPEEDWAY) in a taboo-smashing orgy of violence, nudity and depraved nuptials. Ashley and Angelique Pettyjohn (THE CURIOUS FEMALE) star in MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND, “one of the greatest, nastiest, goriest films of the 1960s” (Dangerous Minds). BEAST OF BLOOD stars Ashley and Celeste Yarnall (THE VELVET VAMPIRE) in “the most exciting and aggressive of all the BLOOD ISLAND movies” (1000 Misspent Hours), newly scanned from a 35mm print by the Library of Congress.
