Shawnee Smith Repordtly In Talks To Return To 'SAW' Franchise In 'SAW 10'
We recently learned that SAW 10 was for sure happening and bringing back John “Jigsaw” Kramer himself, Tobin Bell(how, we don’t have a freaking clue yet) and now as of about 2hrs ago, Deadline reports today that Shawnee Smith is now also in talks to make her long-awaited return to the franchise!
Deadline reminds, “Introduced as one of Kramer’s victims in the original 2004 film, [Shawnee Smith’s] Amanda Young was later revealed to be an apprentice of the killer, known for forcing captives to play deadly games, before meeting her end in Saw III.”
It sounds to us like there must be some sort of unfinished business between Shawnee and Tobin’s characters that we might see fleshed out in this new sequel.
Deadline also reports that Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) and Michael Beach (Dahmer) will also star in the film, which is now in production.
From Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, the new film is slated for release on October 27, 2023.
Franchise stalwart Kevin Greutert, who directed the highly regarded Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, and edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw, is directing the project.
