'Sir Henry's Haunted Trail: Haunted Christmas' In Plant City, Florida (Event Recap)

Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail has brought back their Haunted Christmas for select nights this December. Typically known for their Halloween event, they also do a Christmas rendition of their trails and occasionally a Valentine’s Day haunt as well. The folks at Sir Henry’s were kind enough to invite a podcast I am a part of, Fear and Beer, to their media night for early access to their Haunted Christmas.

This year there were two trails: Creatures of Christmas and Slay Bells II (a sequel to a previous trail), laser tag, an escape room, and ax-throwing. They also have a Swag Shop where you can purchase Sir Henry’s merch, along with small food and beverage offerings like nachos, shaved ice, cake pops, apple cider floats and other sweet treats at Sir Henry’s Spooky Eats. For all the book worms out there, ‘Sir Henry’s Haunted Tales’ will be right up your alley. Giving an insight to the characters of the event and their backstories, author Amanda Rosenblatt and co-author Brad Acevedo will have their works for purchase at the event.

As someone who grew up in Orlando with big haunts such as Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream, Sir Henry’s is a breath of fresh air, or maybe I should say fog. Either way, you sometimes don’t get the authenticity at big events like you do with local haunts. All of the scare-actors are volunteers and you can tell by their energy that they love what they do and that’s what makes this so genuine. They also have more leeway when it comes to producing a good scare like following behind you through the trail or crawling on the ground at you, which I for one appreciate.

The trails round out to about five minutes in length each and that doesn’t seem like much but when you don’t know what’s lurking around the corner, it seems like a lifetime. Sir Henry’s incorporates hand-made structures that they have built within the trails that you walk through along with your occasional trip into the woods which is my favorite; something about being exposed to nature really gets me going. Some of these set pieces they’ve designed are truly a work of art, especially Santa’s village in Slay Bells.

Sir Henry’s Haunted Christmas runs December 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th from 6:30P.M.-10:30P.M. and the 17th from 6:30P.M.-9:30P.M. Make sure to get your tickets ONLINE and in ADVANCE as they do not sell tickets at the gate.

The trails are wheelchair accessible, but let it be noted that the ground is uneven just to be safe. If you happen to be a Florida native or even if you’re in town visiting and you love holly jolly horror, you need to add Sir Henry’s to your Christmas list!
