THE LAST OF US Showrunners Talk About Seasons 2 and 3!
Many of us are still hungover with adoration for Max’s The Last Of Us adaptation that premiered last year. For many of the “old heads” in horror with overlapping interests in video games, strong adaptations were a thing of rarity. With “The Last of Us” we were given hope that great adaptations are possible, and Amazon’s Fallout more recently demonstrated that it is a formula that can be replicated. While a new season of “The Last of Us” won’t be available until 2025, Deadline was able to speak with Showrunners and Directors Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman to talk about why season 2 is shorter, but season 3 will be larger! From the article:
“The story material that we got from Part II of the game is way more than the story material that was in the first game, so part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons,” Mazin said. “When you do that, you look for natural breakpoints, and as we laid it out, this season, the national breakpoint felt like it came after seven episodes.”
