The "TIME TRAVEL IS DANGEROUS" (2024) Trailer Makes Us Wish We Could Travel Ahead To The Release Date! (TRAILER)

You know how you answer “Citizen Kane” or “Gone with the Wind” when asked what your favorite movie is at a cocktail party, but the real answer is “Mannequin Two: On the Move” or “Solarbabies.” Well, the same goes for Time Travel Movies.  We’re inclined to lean into the mind-shattering complexity of “Primer” or the perplexing creepiness of “Donnie Darko” when the truth of the matter is we’ve never moved on from the sheer joy of the Time Travel Comedy.  “Back to the Future” and “Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure” are and always will be what drew us in and kept us coming back.   Wrapping our heads around the theory of general relativity is cool and all but if you can throw in some belly laughs we’re sold.  That’s why our excitement went through the roof when we found out there was a new Time Travel Comedy packed with British Comedy Royalty stars!  Chris Reading’s “Time Travel is Dangerous” has its World Premiere at the 31st Austin Film Festival on October 26th, and to celebrate a first-look teaser and poster has been released. We wish we had a time machine to get to that date but we’ll just have to be patient and wait for this fantastic new film.  Oh, and did we mention it’s narrated by Stephen Fry? You’re welcome! Take a look at the teaser trailer below and see for yourself.

FROM THE PRESS RELEASE

From director Chris Reading, and co-written and produced by the acclaimed duo, the Shakespeare Sisters, the film stars British comedy royalty in Johnny Vegas, Sophie Thompson, Jane Horrocks, Mark Heap, Tony Way, Tom Lenk and is narrated by Stephen Fry.
Real-life best friends Ruth Syratt and Megan Stevenson run a vintage bric-a-brac shop in Muswell Hill, London. Stumbling across a time machine, they embark on trips to the past to stock their emporium with quirky artifacts with no idea of the irreparable damage they’re causing to the fabric of the universe. After one excursion too many, an interdimensional fissure appears and Ruth must free Megan from The Unreason, a monstrous netherworld where a convoluted game is played for all eternity.

Writer and director, Chris Reading, said “We are delighted to premiere our mildly amusing film at Austin Film Festival, a city known for its comedy scene. We wanted to make a silly, but also heart warming sci-fi film, which is quintessentially of a place: Muswell Hill, North London. A film full of the small town, small life, little Britain absurdities which I find hilarious.”

Co-writers and producers, Anna-Elizabeth Shakespeare and Hillary Shakespeare said “We can’t wait to show the world just how dangerous time travel can be for two idiots. With Austin, Trieste Sci+Fi and FrightFest within a week, lucky we have the time machine to make all three premieres!”
