Tim Burton Weighs In On Possible Sequel To "A NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS"
The 30th Anniversary for Tim Burton’s A Nightmare Before Christmas is this year and we’ve been hearing all kinds of possible sequel or reboot talks from various people involved with the originals production. We’ve even heard from director Henry Selick as well as Jack Skellington voice actor Chris Sarandon, both of whom are open to the idea of revisiting the property but ultimately concede it's up to one person: Tim Burton
Now it looks like Burton has a definitive answer for folks wondering about the future of A Nightmare Before Christmas when speaking with Empire recently.
“To me the movie is very important. I’ve done sequels, I’ve done other things, I’ve done reboots, I’ve done all that shit, right? I don’t want that to happen to this. It’s nice that people are maybe interested [in another one], but I’m not. I feel like that old guy who owns a little piece of property and won’t sell to the big power-plant that wants to take my land.”
That sounds like a big fat NO from Burton.
While some might be disappointed that Tim Burton has no interest in revisiting The Nightmare Before Christmas, there's something to be said about how he views the movie in such high esteem.
Sometimes its nice to leave films alone and let them stand the test of time as being classics that should remain untouched. We hope this is the case for A Nightmare Before Christmas as a sequel or even reboot or spinoff would be a very tough pill to swallow.
