What Can We Expect From 'Stranger Things' Season 5? Here's Everything We Know So Far
The fifth and final season of the Emmy-nominated Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ is finally beginning filming in January 2024. A few dates have been tossed around for when production will start but nothing is definitive. Last year on Stranger Things day (November 6th), Netflix announced the name of the first episode which is titled “The Crawl.” The entire cast of the series including Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder are expected to return. There will also be a couple of fresh faces making their debut in Hawkins including Linda Hamilton (“Terminator”). Side note, it was recently announced that Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) will all be attending MEGACON in February in Orlando, Florida. I’m curious to see if that will affect filming at all.
The Duffer brothers sure know how to tug at your heartstrings, and they did just that with season 4. The last episode, Chapter 9: The Piggyback, left us with more questions than answers but it lends to a fantastic build-up of what’s to come. I believe that Will is going to play a pivotal role in this season and is going to find himself in the upside-down yet again, hopefully once and for all. As for Max (Sadie Sink), I think that Eleven may have transferred some of her powers to her in hopes of healing her after she was blinded and left brutally injured by Vecna.
There have been theories swirling around that some past characters may come back to reprise their roles, but if that does happen, I don’t think it will be how we want to see them. Specifically speaking; Barb, Billy, and Eddie. I think maybe at some point we might see them in a flashback, sort of how they did with Billy, or we may find them in the upside-down. In a perfect world, I would like to see Barb come back and help Nancy against Vecna and explain what happened to her in the time she’s been gone. Hey, you never know what could happen, right?
With all the storylines that were going on in season 4, it was kind of all over the place, but in a good way. That just leaves a lot of opportunity for what could happen in season 5. Will we find ourselves back in Russia for some reason? Will Hawkins become a desolate wasteland? Is Eleven going to be strong enough to re-visit the upside-down? Hopefully, we will find out soon enough. Since filming is starting sometime next month, I don’t think we’ll be getting our Stranger Things fix until 2025. Until then, we’ll keep you in the loop.
