BRIAN YUZNA & JOHN PENNEY Team Up With MVD ENTERTAINMENT For DARK ARTS ENTERTAINMENT
With recent headlines stating the end of physical media, at least at your favorite big box store, one could be fooled into thinking that physical media is going the way of the dodo. Truth be told, sensationalist headlines get more clicks than more truthful ones, and one needn’t look far to see that for genre fans, physical media is thriving! We have talked about our passion for physical media before, (it was even the topic of our recent Macabre Monthly) and from where we sit the signs certainly don’t point to the end. We are seeing more new labels pop up these last few years than we have in decades prior! Well, it’s time that we announce another great label to enter the fray, led by two long-time genre names in partnership with our good friends at MVD Entertainment!
Dark Arts Entertainment is the new label which is a three-way collaboration between Brian Yuzna, John Penney, and the aforementioned MVD. Check out the press release below for more details, and we hope to be covering some of their releases as production ramps up! Who says physical media is dead?!

Penney's notable writing and producing credits include Return of The Living Dead 3, The Kindred, Amphibious 3D, and Contaminated Man.
John Penney stated, “I’m excited by this new step that Dark Arts Entertainment is taking into distribution. We are always looking for emerging genre filmmakers with films that can be shaped for marketplace success. This new partnership with MVD is the perfect fit for our expanding endeavor.”
Eric D. Wilkinson, Director of Acquisitions for MVD, added, "Having survived my youth on a steady diet of Brian’s and John's films in the 80s and 90s during my countless trips to the video store, I cannot express my excitement enough to be working with two of the greatest legends of genre films. MVD is thrilled to be partnering with Dark Arts Entertainment and we look forward to bringing not only their carefully curated slate of new films to the market but also some of their great cult classic catalog titles as well. Welcome to MVD!"
This new distribution company marks a significant milestone for Dark Arts Entertainment and MVD, its esteemed partner. Together, they aim to redefine horror.
The deal was negotiated by Brian Yuzna and John Penney on behalf of Dark Arts Entertainment, and by Eric D. Wilkinson and Zach Fischel on behalf of MVD Entertainment Group.
