Cheap Thrills & Chills: 5 Horror Movies Deals Just in Time for Halloween

Why pay full price when you can scream in terror for half the price? Thankfully there are hours and hours worth of budget-worthy frights. Buying horror movies on sale during the Halloween season offers great benefits for fans and collectors. Not only can you expand your collection at a fraction of the cost, but seasonal sales often include special edition releases or bundled deals that are harder to find at other times of the year. This is also the perfect opportunity to explore new or classic films that you may not have considered at full price, giving you a chance to enjoy more variety during the spooky season.

Recently we here at Macabre Daily were riffling through the bargain bin for horror movies when we realized the killer savings iTunes has just in time for Halloween. The great part is that not only are these fantastic horror movies, but they are ones you will want to own (even if you own the physical media for them already). Digital copies are nice for travel or if you just want to enjoy a nice relaxing watch in bed on your tablet. Here are some ghoulishly good prices and the movies you are going to want to grab:

“Scream” (1999) Price $4.99

Why You Want This Movie: This movie is one of the top-tier Wes Craven films. Sure, “Nightmare on Elm Street” defined slasher movies all on its own, but what “Scream” did for the genre is take the troupes of slashers, teen scares, comedy, and horror meta topics to make for one hell of a great start to a franchise. The kills are great, the storyline is awesome and who didn’t enjoy that out of nowhere Drew Barrymore's death. Not to mention people are still asking others in that creepy Ghostface voice “What’s your favorite scary movie?”.

“The Blair Witch Project” (1999) Price $4.99

Why You Want This Movie: Found footage before this movie was hit or miss, but “The Blair Witch Project” took it to a whole new level, inspiring thousands of found footage horror films after it. It takes a simplistic approach of being in the woods, heightening your fear with each passing minute, and gets your mind pumped full of terror without even showing you the villain or a kill on screen (it also makes some of us decide to never go camping since the movie’s release). It is one that you are going to want to watch every October if you haven’t yet.

“All Hallows Eve” (2013) Price $5.99

Why You Want This Movie: Horror anthologies are some of the most enjoyable among horror fans and this set of short but scary stories doesn’t disappoint. With each segment the adrenaline of suspense and panic intensifies, keeping you on the edge of your seat. “All Hallows Eve” is also the film that helped make Damien Leone’s “Terrifier” so mainstream with his demonic splatter gore icon Art the Clown (portrayed by Mike Giannelli, before David Howard Thornton took over the role). The kills in this movie are also intense and perfect for a night watching horror movies in the dark. This is just the first part of a franchise and has a new one “All Hallows Eve: Inferno” that just released that is available on Tubi.

“Sleepy Hollow” (1999) Price $4.99

Courtesy of IMDB

Why You Want This Movie: One of the rare Tim Burton movies that is completely horror-based, “Sleepy Hollow” takes the old Disney tale and turns it into something bloody and sinister. It is not only a rare Tim Burton horror film, but a rare chance to see Christopher Walken as a horror villain when he plays the fully formed Headless Horseman. There are some really gruesome deaths sprinkled throughout this movie and also a very entertaining storyline with Ichabod Crane’s twisted past and cowardly heroic arc.

“The Black Phone” (2022) Price $7.99

Courtesy of IMDB

Why You Want This Movie: With the sequel for this movie in talks to be released in 2025, this movie is one you are going to need to revisit. It takes true crime, hauntings, and child abductions to an entirely different cinematic level within the world of horror movies. The story is terrifying with Ethan Hawke’s “The Grabber” character and the creepy mask that he wears to torment his victims. “The Black Phone” is also a haunting edge-of-your-seat revenge thriller from beyond the grave that will make you excited to see where the next chapter in this franchise will go.

Bonus: “Ash VS Evil Dead: The Complete Series” (2015) Price $12.99

Courtesy of IMDB

Why You Want It: Granted the suggestions earlier were movies, but when you have a TV show inspired and part of “The Evil Dead” mythology you are going to be happy it is included. This continues the fight against evil with Ash at the helm making horror fans fall in love with the franchise all over again. It is 3 seasons of terror, blood, guts, Deadites, and that charming Ash Williams comedy that is too good to pass up at this price. If you want a break from just horror movies, then snagging this complete series is a great pivot to keeping the terror train chugging along.

You are going to want to snag these deals and even some of the great horror bundle deals soon before the Halloween season is over (and to enjoy throughout the year if you’re a 365 horror hound like us). Stay tuned to Macabre Daily for more insights on movies, and all things in the world of horror.
