Disney's 'OBI-WAN KENOBI': Who Are The Inquisitors Sent To Hunt Obi-Wan Down?
With the OBI-WAN KENOBI series just hours away from its Disney+ debut we feel that it is of great importance to let you know who the major antagonists are. Since here at Macabre Daily we tend to focus on the dark side of pop culture, it's only right that we focus our attention on "the bad guys". Without further ado, I present to you the Inquisitors Of Inquisitorius.
Who are the inquisitors you ask? For those of you who are familiar with the Clone Wars Animated Series and Star Wars Legends, you need no introduction. For those who are not caught up with the current Star Wars lore, allow us to go on a deep dive into these mysterious Imperial inquisitors.
Stemming as far back as the Clone Wars era, Emperor Palpatine had arranged plans to build a deterrent against any remaining Jedi long after order 66's execution. He hired the notorious Bounty Hunter Cad Bane to retrieve and essentially kidnap any Force-sensitive younglings to be raised and brought up as the first generation of inquisitors. Palpatine - "The Nitro talent these children possess is too great to be wasted by the Jedi. I foresee an army of force talented spies in my service and my enemies would be helpless against such vision"
Inquisitorius is another name for the Inquisitor program devised by Palpatine, to use the dark side of the force in the efforts to track down, capture, or kill any remaining Jedi or force-sensitive beings that potentially pose a threat to the Empire in the known galaxy. The first generation of inquisitors was introduced and trained by Palpatine himself, then Darth Vader took the reins in training these Force-sensitive users. Some were previously trained in the Jedi arts as padawans or Jedi Knights, none however made it to the rank of Master. Although trained by the two known siths in the galaxy, the inquisitor's training was limited due to the rule of two, of the Sith code and the Emperor's fear of being overthrown by his loyal subjects.
As mentioned Darth Vader took a major role in the development and training of the inquisitors. However, Vader views them as inferior and only agrees to train them under Darth Sidious' command. During one training session, Vader severs multiple limbs and an eye from some of the inquisitors, when asked why he did that he replied that he was teaching them the importance of loss. Darth Vader - "He will never forget it. None of them will".
Along with the importance of loss, he taught them a more aggressive fighting style that focuses on offensive tactics, much like General Grievous who was a well-known Jedi killer in his time, utilized an offensive style with fear and aggression. The inquisitors are also equipped with double-sided rotating lightsabers that allow them to be more efficient and dangerous when standoff with a standard lightsaber.
There are approximately fourteen known inquisitors that serve the empire, however not all at one time. Unfortunately, the Empire had to do some "cutbacks" due to compromised loyalty or failure to complete a task (yikes! Who'd want to work there?).
The manager of the inquisitors is The Grand Inquisitor, who was once a Jedi and a temple guard. He is a Pauin from the planet Utapau. Formerly went by the name of Raqesh Thanos. He was involved in the accusation and arrest of Ahsoka Tano, causing him to lose faith in the Jedi order, evidently becoming a fallen Jedi and embracing the dark side. Other inquisitors: Jerserra (night sister witch from Dathomir), Second Sister / Trilla Suduri, Third Brother, Third Sister / Reva, Fourth Sister, Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother / Bil Valen, Seventh Sister, Eighth Brother, Ninth Sister / Masana Tide, Tenth Brother / Prosset Dibs, unidentified black-skinned Twi'lek, unidentified red-skinned species inquisitor.
We can't wait to see what's in store for this new series. We are totally looking forward to all the mayhem and melee that these inquisitors bring to the table. Will they be as ruthless as Darth Vader or brutal like Darth Maul? Let us know what it is that you are looking forward to in this series.
