In "HEATHER" (2024) The Bullied Becomes The Bully (TRAILER)
Bullies suck. For many in the horror community, bullying is an unfortunate part of growing up as many of us were seen as “odd” or “outcasts". As horror has become more mainstream, so has its acceptance, but that doesn’t mean that bullies disappear as much as they change. They infiltrate the spaces you hold dear, and it can sometimes feel like a betrayal when something so beloved like the horror genre gets infected with the kind of popularity that bully behavior gravitates towards. Still, the horror genre is rife with stories and experiences of turning trauma into art and pain into profit, and “Heather” by writer and director Anthony Repinsky is taking that to another level.
Check out the trailer and synopsis below for “Heather” which will be released on November 8, 2024, on VOD from Buffalo8. According to the press release, Rapinsky got the idea from a story a friend who was bullied in high school told them, albeit with a far less violent ending, and explores themes of gender identity and politics through the lens of a Trans woman confronting her bully from the past.
Synopsis
A philanderer is lured into a kinky encounter by a provocative woman, only to discover she has undergone gender reassignment and was once the boy he terrorized in high school.
