Rob Jabbaz Tapped To Direct Film Adpation Of Gareth Ennis' "CROSSED"
If the name Gareth Ennis doesn’t ring a bell, you’re probably unfamiliar with how prevalent his work is these days. The creator behind such series as “Preacher” and “The Boys” also had one of the best-written runs of The Punisher in the modern era of comics, and the aforementioned series went on to become hit TV shows on AMC and Amazon. Rob Jabbaz is a man who may not need any introduction either, as he was the filmmaker behind 2021’s most transgressive film, “The Sadness.” And if there’s one thing you may or may not know about “The Sadness" it’s that it was directly inspired by Ennis’ other series, “Crossed.”
News coming from The Hollywood Reporter yesterday announced the serendipitous teaming of Jabbaz and Ennis as Jabbaz has been asked to direct the film adaption of Ennis’ series with Six Studios. From the article:
“It has been a real delight working with Garth Ennis and Six Studios developing Crossed for the big screen,” said Jabbaz. “From day one, our primary goal has been to deliver a faithful adaptation of the original series, along with a few new surprises. I certainly hope audiences are ready for this.”
If you’re familiar with “Crossed” you may know just how bleak and dark it is. In fact, some would even go as far as to say it’s more challenging than both “Preacher” and “The Boys,” but we will leave that to you all to decide when the film releases. Regardless, the pairing of Jabbaz and Ennis is pitch-perfect as Jabbaz demonstrated he won’t shy away from showing awful things on screen, and “Crossed” has a plethora of opportunities for him to demonstrate once again his flair for audacious violence.
