Save The Date For Daisy Ridley’s Noir Thriller “MAGPIE” (TRAILER)

Thrills and chills are always plenty when it comes to horror movies, but what if the plot was more focused on the thrilling moments? Would you sit on the edge of your seat enticed by the moments unraveling in front of you or would you wistfully daydream about the generic horror movies we all have come to love? In modern horror, psychological thrillers have risen to prominence. It flawlessly does this by shifting the audience’s focus from the traditional “jump scares” and “gore-fueled nightmares” to the internal fears driven by anxiety. This horror trend taps into our deeper, more complex themes like trauma, paranoia, and mental instability. It drives the reflection of real-world concerns and creates a sense of dread rooted in the back of our minds. Movies such as “Hereditary” and “Get Out” exemplify this evolution with nuanced storytelling, unsettling atmospheres, and ambiguous realities. The remarkable thing horror movies like this tend to leave a lasting emotional impact on audiences, often blurring the line between psychological tension and traditional supernatural horror. So, it begs the question, do you have what it takes to enjoy the brave new world of psychological thrillers?

Based on an original idea by Daisy Ridley, written by Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express”, “Thirteen Lives”), and directed by Sam Yates (VANYA”, “The Hope Rooms”), Magpie” is a stylish neo-noir thriller centered on married couple Anette (Daisy Ridley) and Ben (Shazad Latif), whose lives begin to fracture when their daughter is cast alongside a glamorous movie star, Alicia (Matilda Lutz). As Anette’s suspicions of Ben’s infatuation with Alicia intensify, their secrets and lies threaten to burst to the surface and destroy them all.

“Magpie” from Shout Studios starring Daisy Ridley, Shazam Latin, Matilda Lutz, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Hiba Ahmed, Cherrelle Skeete and Alistair Petrie will open only in theaters at Village East in New York, Los Angeles and select U.S. cities on October 25th.
