Sony Bringing The Blood And Violence To 'KRAVEN THE HUNTER' With "R" Rating
We’ve been waiting a long time for any kind of update regarding Sony’s ‘KRAVEN THE HUNTER’ and last night we got an earful at CinemaCon when they announced that the film will most definitely be rated “R”.
This will mark the first Spider-Man related villain story that gest a “R” rating from Sony but it’s for good reason. Kraven is a brutal, merciless hunter and is as violent of a man than anyone Spider-Man has ever faced.
During the CinemaCon panel, star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) referred to the project as “a Marvel movie grounded heavily in the real world.”
“Fuck yeah, it will be rated R,” he promised attendees.
Variety details the footage that was shown at CinemaCon (don’t expect it to appear online), “In the world premiere footage, Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven is a tactical stalker with a penchant for cropped leather vests and five-star hair. He shreds his victims viscerally, often with primitive claw-shaped weapons. Blood pours freely over the screen and, at one intense moment, Taylor-Johnson rips the flesh off a target’s neck with his teeth and spits it out. So yeah, it’s rated R.”
Sony’s Columbia Pictures will unleash Kraven the Hunter on October 6, 2023.
Ariana DeBose will play Calypso in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie.
Christopher Abbott (Possessor) is playing The Foreigner, with Levi Miller (Better Watch Out) also on board. Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark) will play another villain, but character details are under wraps. Russell Crowe and Fred Hechinger also star.
J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) is directing Kraven the Hunter.
The screenplay was written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.
