SPIRIT HALLOWEEN Making A Full length Feature Film Based On The Annual Store Franchise! [Images]

Spirit Halloween has possessed many a rundown, Toys R Us, Mervyns, and Grocery Stores around the nation over the past few years and now it seems that the company is launching a full fledged feature film!

So far all the info we know, provided by our friends over at Fandom, is that the film is will be titled “Spirit Halloween: The Movie” but obviously this could change. It’s slated for a late 2022 release (we’re guessing just in time for Halloween).

Speaking with the local news media, Producer Michael Haggerty said the project is a kid’s Halloween movie starring Christopher Lloyd, better known as Doc in the “Back to the Future” franchise, and Rachel Leigh Cook of “Josie and the Pussycats” fame will play the leading roles. The movie is slated to be released in late 2022.

The film is being directed by David Poag (The Good Ones) and produced by Shannon Houchins (Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) and being writen by Australian writer Billy Bates

We do have the first plot synopsis for ya to gander at as well.

"When a pop-up Halloween Store opens in a deserted strip mall, three middle school friends, Jake, Carson and Bo decide to spend Halloween night locked inside. But when an evil spirit targets the kids, along with Carson’s older sister Kate — the object of Jake’s longtime crush — they are stalked by horrible animatronic creatures come to life, turning their night of fun into a wacky night of survival that leverages their combined ingenuity and tests their friendship to the max. Unless they can defeat the spirit trapped inside before midnight, it will possess one of them for all eternity…”

A few points of note:

The film uses an abandoned Toys r Us location that has been used frequently by Spirit Halloween prior to its usage for the film. The store is located at the Martha Berry Mall in Rome, Georgia.

We also found a few on set photos of the production.

A poster for the film was released back in 2018 and immediately panned as fake by fans but was only a preliminary design and not finalized.

We have no further news or info regarding the feature but will loop back when we find out more. Are you excited for a Spirit Halloween flick?
