Terror Films Sets Release Date For Original Film “Restitution”

Killers in movies are always terrifying, but they add an extra dose of fear when they reflect the kind of killers that surround us in the real world. Horror movies featuring serial killers captivate audiences because they tap into our most deep-seated fears and dark curiosities about human nature. They make us curious about the boundaries of morality, that can end at any moment by a harbinger of evil. These horror movies often explore the darkest corners of the human psyche, offering a glimpse into the mind of a killer. This insight horrifies and fascinates even the seasoned horror movie fan. The tension of watching someone evade capture and the unpredictability of a killer’s next move keep audiences on edge. These horror stories often serve as a cathartic experience, allowing people to confront their fears in a controlled environment and question the thin line between good and evil.

From the Press Release:

Terror Films Releasing has teamed with production company The Ninth House to produce the revenge horror film, “Restitution”.

Directed by Danny Draven (Patient Seven, Bad CGI Gator), with a script by Mark Allen (Early Grave), “Restitution” marks the first original production from the indie genre distributor since launching in 2016. The script was acquired in 2015 and was one of the initial projects under consideration. The three original TFR productions that eventually launched the label include the supernatural horror films “The Chosen” and “Trace”, and the acclaimed horror anthology, “Patient Seven” starring Michael Ironside, Amy Smart, Doug Jones, Alfie Allen, and Grace Van Dien.

The film centers around Mia Wagner (Coél Mahal), the sole survivor of a serial killer who brutally murdered her entire family as a child, only to be released years later on a technicality. When the judicial system fails her, Mia decides to take matters into her own hands. Rounding out the cast are Chris Gann, James Black, and Jonathan Shores.

Autumn Federici, James Black, and Jake Helgren produced for The Ninth House, with TFR CEO Joe Dain and COO Jim Klock, producing and overseeing the distribution. Timothy Bober, Melody Tsai, Anvar Huseynov, and Prashant Mody Executive Produced. Director Danny Draven shared his thoughts about the making of the film in a press release from Terror Films Releasing:

Restitution is a story about revenge and the ugly forms it can manifest. When I first read the script, I immediately thought of the quote from Confucius, ‘Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.’ Our characters embark on this journey and the film takes you along for the ride!”

TFR will premiere the film across multiple platforms on October 4th, 2024, including Amazon, Tubi TV, Apple TV, Chilling, Kings of Horror, and many more. Stay tuned to Macabre Daily for our full review of the movie.
