'THE MEG' Sequel Swims Ashore And Will Be Titled 'MEG 2: THE TRENCH'

Star Jason Statham will return in director Ben Wheatley‘s (Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England, High-Rise, Rebecca, In the Earth) upcoming sequel to shark attack, horror movie, The Meg. Today we have learned that the new film will be entitled ‘MEG 2: THE TRENCH’

Variety confirmed production is officially underway at the Warner Bros.-owned Leavesden Studios outside London, where the Harry Potter and Batman franchises were also shot.

Wheatley takes the reins from Jon Turteltaub who directed the first installment of the franchise, which took $530 million worldwide.

Bingbing Li also returns in Meg 2: The Trench.

If you also remember, Statham was a bit bummed that the film got a PG-13 rating and he even stated he wanted a more violent film. Will we get that with MEG 2? Here’s hoping!

Just for fun, here’s a beach scene from The Meg to tide you over. Get it…TIDE YOU OVER…
