Toho Announces New GODZILLA Film In The Works With "GODZILLA MINUS ONE" Director Attached

Godzilla is known as “The King Of Monsters” and for a good reason, he’s been around for 70 years and has scared, intrigued, and demolished his way into the modern-day lexicon more than any other monster. Toho, the studio that brought us the smash hit GODZILLA MINUS ONE has announced a brand new Godzilla film in the works and we have the details on the new project below.

“Godzilla Minus One” brought the king back to his roots and by roots we mean the scary Godzilla we all remember as kids, not the WB version we have been getting lately with him going on a video game-type romp with Kong. Uh Uh, we are getting Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Minus One, returning to direct Godzilla in a new film that is sure to make the ground quake. Yamazaki will be writing, directing, and VFX supervisor on the movie so we know it will be in good hands.

Toho officially announced the new film earlier today via X but we have no further details on the movie at all. There’s no hint as to whether this new flick will be a direct sequel to “Minus One” or be a brand new film altogether. You can check out the original posting embedded below.

We’re not going to give anything away but the ending of “Godzilla Minus One” did leave the door open for a sequel. We’d be surprised if this new film wasn’t a direct sequel to “Minus One” as the movie became the highest-grossing Godzilla movie ever by pulling in $116 million worldwide on a reported budget of $15 million.

Takashi Yamazaki himself sent out a tweet or x or whatever ya wanna call them now, a little later on via the Toho X account as well and you can check that out below as well.

We’re eager to see where this new film will go and don’t forget, November 3rd is officially Godzilla Day so expect more news about “The King Of Monsters” soon.
