Annual 'E3' Event "PROBABLY" Being Scrapped All Together For 2022

At the beginning of this month, the Entertainment Software Association, who is the controlling entity behind the annual video game event, E3. The company revealed that this years event would be remote and online only as Covid cases are again on the rise in the City Of Los Angeles, where the event has been held for quite sometime.

However, based on some new reporting that has since come about, it now sounds like E3 2022 as a whole is just being scrapped.

According to video game industry reporter Jeff Grubb, a digital iteration of E3 2022 is also now likely being scrapped for this summer. In a new video released on YouTube, Grubb briefly explained that the digital component of the show is likely not happening, which means that this summer's landscape for gaming announcements will look much different than normal. "E3's been canceled. Well, physically it's been canceled; digitally, probably also canceled," Grubb said.

Now the question is whether or not E3 will EVER return. It hasn’t had a in person event since 2019 and the streaming events that occurred in 2020 and 2021 were lack luster in “virtual attendance” as well.

There’s no way of knowing as of this writing what the ESA will do with E3 but if all signs point to the same road, we might be seeing the slow demise of the event all together.
