Blood Tracks: When Music and Massacres Unite!

Hello, good friends of the #MacabreDaily.

My name is Nick and I love 80's campy, sometimes forgotten slasher movies.

Macabre Daily audience: Hi. Nick.

Blood Tracks. 1985. That name, though. Blood Tracks. Sounds like a rap song about using heroin - - similar to 'White Lines' by Grand Master Flash and Melle Mel.

But that's not really the point of my last article before Halloween. Blood Tracks is a rad ol' slasher movie from back in the day. A Swedish horror that's supposed to come across as MADE in the USA. Here's how Cinematic Professor I. Emdeebee describes it...

"A film crew producing a rock music video decides to shoot at an abandoned factory above the snow line. When an avalanche strands them, a murderous family living in the factory attacks and kills many of them."

Simply put - 80's hair metal music meets The Hills Have Eyes. Boom. Done. I mean...check these dudes out. Meet the boys of Easy Action.

Easy Action is a Swedish band from Stockholm that was first formed in 1981. In the movie, these hunky hair homies were known as Solid Gold. They were the band headed to the mountains to film a music video for the ages. A music video that was fueled by booze, babes and bags of cocaine. Want a little taste of the music? Check it below...

Why ‘Blood Tracks’, Nick? And why before Halloween?

To be honest, I have no fucking idea. Maybe it’s because I love the way music and slasher/horror movies intertwine. Yeah, that doesn't have anything to do with Halloween, but it's a slasher flick - so that's Halloween-y. To be fair, I did spare you from writing a review of ‘Hubie Halloween’. I don't know how much of an article I would've gotten out with vomit discouraging the use of the keyboard on my laptop. So there. We're good.

Back to ‘Blood Tracks’, there's an interesting story behind the band 'Easy Action' and hair metal gods ‘Poison’…a story that involves plagiarism, money and probably cocaine. Jk.

"Poison used the chorus of Easy Action's 1983 single "We Go Rocking" in their hit single "I Want Action", which led to the members of Easy Action suing the American band and winning a financial settlement in the case."

Here's Easy Action's WE GO ROCKING

Here's Poison's I WANT ACTION

It's a no-brainer. #EasyActionForLife

Yeah, wasn't much of a review this round - but I really never review, I just rant. My love for the genre of film we call cheesy, campy slashers is real. If you agree, watch this movie and go check out my podcast and visit slashupodcast.com.

Until next time, my friends - I wish you all a very happy and safe Halloween--

(see, I can be all sweet and shit)...
