DIRECTOR DAVID GORDON GREEN TALKS ABOUT WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE EXORCIST

Taking the #1 spot at the box office during it’s opening weekend, THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER is certainly the hot topic in horror at the moment. While fans had mixed reactions to the film, director DAVID GORDON GREEN spoke with THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER to talk about what’s next for the franchise, and to what extent he may or may not be involved!

From the interview Green says, “My intention is just to start making things, and as those plans come together, if I find myself in that [The Exorcist: Deceiver] director’s chair, I’d be thrilled,” Green says.” But right now, I’m navigating it from a story perspective and looking at my realities of life as I pivot.”

While the future directing efforts may not be clear quite yet, one thing that Green admits he wishes he could’ve done was show the final cut to the recently deceased WILLIAM FRIEDKIN. “Like so many people, Ellen Burstyn included, I know that there was skepticism at the beginning of this undertaking, but I was excited to show it to [Friedkin],” Green says. “As it came together, I found myself more and more proud of what we’d done … And so it’s disappointing that I don’t get to expose myself in that way, which would, no joke, be really intimidating. But I was ready to have that conversation and I was ready to invite him to experience this if he was up for it.”

An insightful interview that talks more about the directors future plans, and also his apprehension to taking the lead with yet another famous horror franchise.
