First Look At Guillermo del Toro's "FRANKENSTEIN" Welcomes You To The Lab
It’s been 93 years since “Frankenstein” first scared audiences on the big screen and now Guillermo del Toro is the next director to take on the classic Mary Shelley tale. He just shared a first look at his adaptation for Netflix. Check out the details below!
Production is now officially wrapped on del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and today the director has dropped the above image for fans to gawk at via a 2025 preview article at Vanity Fair. This is a dream project for del Toro and let’s be honest, he’s probably the only director to have this much passion for a project like Frankenstein, come on, he’s a big monster kid just like us.
“Gothic romance was born partially out of the fascination with ruins,” del Toro tells VF. “Sometimes they’re more beautiful than the building complete because it’s the clash of creation and destruction.”
This first image is a great one, as it gives us a look inside Dr. Frankenstein’s lab. You can truly see just how detailed del Toro is making this one. We love the architecture in this image and expect even grander images and locals to be divulged as the film’s release gets closer.

Don’t worry if you want to see this new version of Frankenstein on the big screen as Guillermo del Toro has confirmed the film will get a theatrical run. Del Toro wore many hats in the film as producer, writer, and director.
Jacob Elordi is Frankenstein’s monster in this new take on Mary Shelley’s tale. The rest of the cast is formidable with Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Oscar Isaac all having pivotal roles.
As of this writing, a firm release date for Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” has not been set but expect it sometime in 2025, hopefully close to Halloween.
