Harmony Korine and EDGLRD Are Bringing "BABY INVASION" To Fantastic Fest!

The name Harmony Korine can conjure up extreme feelings of adoration or aggravation depending on how you respond to the controversial filmmaker’s work. For some, films like “Gummo” and “Spring Breakers” are modern transgressive classics that subvert every expectation and present stark views of reality that are unabashedly confrontational. For others, his work is merely provocation. Throwing ideas on the screen like spaghetti on a wall to create something intentionally frustrating and “edge lordy.” No matter where you stand on that spectrum, news of his films often strikes curiosity even in the most ardent naysayers. And those naysayers and fans better get ready, because Korine and EDGLRD are invading Fantastic Fest with the US Premiere of “Baby Invasion.”

Check out the details below on the premiere and synopsis, and we hope to bring you our review while we are attending the fest this year in person in Austin!

From The Press Release

Harmony Korine and EDGLRD’s newest project Baby Invasion will have its US premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX this September 23rd at 11:10pm.

The film’s world premiere took place at Venice Film Festival in August and received a standing ovation. Through special effects and advanced techniques introduced by the EDGLRD team, Harmony Korine aims to revolutionize a new film genre by incorporating technology from video games and live streams.

Synopsis

An ultra-realistic, multiplayer FPS game, Baby Invasion follows a group of mercenaries using baby faces as avatars to conceal their identity. Tasked with entering mansions of the rich and powerful and leaving nothing behind, players must explore every rabbit hole before time runs out. Baby Invasion features an original score by Burial.

This is the second feature film from EDGLRD, following last year’s AGGRO DR1FT, which was shot entirely through a thermal lens and follows a Miami Beach hitman as he embarks on the relentless pursuit of his next target.
