Horror-Western 'ORGAN TRAIL' From Paramount Gets Rated “R” for “Strong Violence”

If you grew up in the early 90s like we did, you know all about the infuriating PC game “The Oregon Trail”. We never reached Oregon without getting dysentery or being attacked by a bear or worse but the folks over at Paramount are hoping the nostalgia for the game will bring you to theaters with their new film ‘ORGAN TRAIL’. See what they did there? We hope it’s as brutal as the real wild west was.

Michael Patrick Jann (Drop Dead Gorgeous, “Reno 911!”, “Daybreak”) is behind the camera for this one and we have learned that the film has received an “R” rating from the powers that be.

Organ Trail is rated “R” for “strong violence, language, and some sexual references.”

Mather Zickel (BD’s Southbound) stars alongside Olivia Applegate (Love and Death), Clé Bennett (The Man in the High Castle), Zoé De Grand Maison (Riverdale), Nicholas Logan (Dopesick), Sam Trammell (True Blood) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark).

“The film finds a young Abigale Archer friendless and alone in a brutal Montana winter during the 1870s—fighting for survival and to retrieve her one earthly possession, her family’s horse, from a gang of bloodthirsty bandits.”

Meg Turner (@inkedwerdsmith) wrote the script.

Producers include Michael Patrick Jann and David Codron.
