James Gunn and DC Developing a Horror-Focused New 'SWAMP THING' Movie
The beginning of the new DC Universe was revealed by new head honcho, James Gunn, today. Along with partner Peter Safran, Gunn announced that a brand new ‘SWAMP THING’ Film will be developed for Chapter 1 of the new DC Universe.
According to Variety‘s report this afternoon, the upcoming movie will “investigate the dark origins of Swamp Thing,” with various other DC characters joining him in the film.
“This is a much more horrific film, but we’ll still have Swamp Thing interact with the other characters,” Gunn teased during the massive unveiling of the upcoming DC slate today.
Swamp Thing was originally made into a feature film in 1982 by Wes Craven and then later a sequel came about but then Swamp Thing went dormant for many years until a short lived TV Series came about but that was cancelled after only 1 season which starred Derek Mears as Swamp Thing.
“The character is a swamp monster that resembles an anthropomorphic mound of vegetable matter, and fights to protect his swamp home, the environment in general, and humanity from various supernatural or terrorist threats.”
