Marvel's 'WEREWOLF BY NIGHT' Directly Influenced By Classic Horror Of The 30s & 40s

Marvel Studios revealed the first look at the upcoming Halloween Special, ‘WEREWOLF BY NIGHT’, during their D23 expo last weekend and more news has howled its way online about the special.

A new listing for the Halloween Special has now been shared online.

According to the official Disney documentation (via MCU Direct), the special is inspired by "horror films of the 1930s and 1940s," which shouldn’t be that big of a reach considering the look of the teaser trailer. Though not specifically named, some of the most popular films of the era include The Wolfman (obviously), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dracula, Werewolf of London, and The Mummy's Tomb.

A recent Disney+ listing categorized Werewolf by Night as a comedy, which led to speculation that the campier elements of the trailer might be at the forefront of the special. But the new logline concludes with an assurance that this special will "evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Though very little has been officially revealed about this "Special Presentation," based on what we see here, there's a very good chance the extensive plot leak that did the rounds earlier this year was accurate.

Werewolf By Night will premiere on Disney+ just in time for Halloween on October 7.
