'POLTERGEIST' SERIES IS UNDERWAY AT AMAZON!

Say what you will about the modern state of horror, but the one thing you can’t say is that there isn’t a plethora of content. It seems that everyone and anyone is talking about horror, and it seems with each passing year more and more horror projects are getting greenlit and ready for our consumption!

Purists will argue that remakes are blasphemous pieces of capitalism with little value save for generating revenue, while others view remakes as opportunities to bring more horror fans to the fold. No matter where you stand on this topic it is inevitable that remakes are here to stay forever. In some cases, they take the shape of a change in format, like Poltergeist.

While news is quite fresh and development is early, Variety is reporting that Amazon Studios in collaboration with Amblin Entertainment are working on an episodic version of the famous 1982 film. From the Variety article:

No writer is currently attached to the project. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will executive produce on behalf of Amblin Television. Amblin produced the original 1982 film, with Steven Spielberg having come up with the story, co-writing the screenplay, and producing it. There are no plot details to share at this time, beyond the fact the show will be set within the world of the film.

While it may be too soon to make any judgments, we will have more about this story as it develops!
