'PREY' Is NOT A Predator Prequel Film Says Director Dan Trachtenberg!
20th Century Studios is brining director Dan Trachtenberg’s new film ‘PREY’ exclusively to HULU on August 5th. But the question of whether or not the film is a direct prequel to the known Predator universe is still being asked, and boy does this director have an answer!
Speaking with SFX Magazine for their latest issue, Trachtenberg explains that while Prey does indeed take place long before the original Predator, it’s not an origin story prequel.
“I want to specifically say this, because I think there’s been some confusion how people have understood: in my mind, this is not a prequel movie, this isn’t, ‘Let’s tell the origin of the Predator.’ This is really something that’s set prior to the original Predator movie,” Trachtenberg explains. “And the Predator creature in this one, this is its first time travelling to Earth.”

Trachtenberg recently told ComicBook.com, “I think this guy’s perhaps from a different hemisphere of the planet and a little bit of a different breed. So even his look is a little new.”
Amber Midthunder (“Legion”) stars in Hulu’s upcoming Predator movie Prey as a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior. Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young warrior named Naru.
Naru has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved predator with an advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
