'Scooby Doo' Crew Member Gets Upgraded In First Look At New Adult Animated Series 'VELMA'

Young and old alike love Scooby Doo and all his gangs adventures. One member of the crew though is getting an updated spin. Iconic character Velma Dinkley is getting her own “adult animated series “ over at HBO Max. The project was officially ordered to series last year.

A first-look at the upcoming series was shown off during a Warner Bros. upfront presentation today, and it gives us an idea of just how “adult” the animated series will be.

Check out the shot below, which reminds of the “Harley Quinn” animated series that can also be found on HBO Max. No word yet on when “Velma” will be premiering.

“Velma” is an adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang.

An original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers, executive producer Mindy Kaling will voice the titular character.

The voice cast also includes Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within).

Charlie Grandy, Howard Klein and Sam Register also serve as executive producers, the press release sent out today notes. “Velma” is produced by Warner Bros. Animation.
