Shocking Documentary GRAPHIC SEXUAL HORROR Coming To Blu Ray In April
Shockumentary films feel like something out of a time capsule these days. With shocking content ripped right out of the headlines on a daily basis, we are generally far less sensitive to this kind of material than we used to be. In many ways, the combination of the internet with increased levels of provocative material to drive engagement is creating a powder keg that is already showing signs of reduced empathy and more apathetic responses to real-life violence. One of the best ways we used to get access to the more taboo side of reality was through shockumentaries like Faces of Death, Mondo Cane, and more. Now, one of the most notorious shockumentaries of the early 00s is getting a brand-new Blu-Ray release from the fine folks over at Synapse Films.

In a time where even the most extreme content can be made available within seconds from the click of a keyboard, the idea of a BDSM website being shut down by the U.S. government seems improbable, but in the late 90s and early 2000s, INSEX.COM faced that shocking reality. Filmmakers Barbara Bell and Anna Lorentzon chose to tell this astonishing tale of the site that caused so much controversy and now, 15 years after premiering to shocked audiences at the 2009 Slamdance Film Festival, GRAPHIC SEXUAL HORROR returns in a newly remastered Blu-ray to revisit an era in the internet’s early days whose repercussions remain relevant today.
In 1997, a former professor at Carnegie Mellon University started a phenomenon. The website he created, INSEX.COM, was devoted to bondage, fetish, and sadomasochistic scenarios. By the time the website was shut down by the Department of Homeland Security, it had 35,000 members who paid $60 a month to view its content.
An often raw and shocking documentary, GRAPHIC SEXUAL HORROR is a fascinating look at the rise and fall of the world's most notorious "violent porn" website and an exploration into the dark mind of its artistic creator, Brent Scott (aka "PD"). Containing original INSEX.COM behind-the-scenes footage and candid interviews with PD, the models, members, and staff, this film "almost dares you to watch, assaulting the eyes from its opening frames with violent images of moaning, crying women, bound, tortured and terrorized" (Linda Barnard, THESTAR.COM).
This Blu-ray contains newly discovered shocking deleted scenes and interviews not seen in previous releases.
