The Terror in the Corn video game is available now as a digital release on Steam, with consoles and other platforms coming at a later date.
TERROR IN THE CORN is a mile-long haunted attraction offering an immersive experience into a world of the unknown. In this "Mile of Mayhem," you and your friends wind your way through a massive cornfield filled with your darkest fears...leading to the town of Raven's Gulch where you wander through its abandoned buildings and darkened streets to face the nightmares that greet you at every turn. In The Terror in the Corn video game, players take on the role of a miner equipped with only a lantern as they navigate the treacherous cornfields, searching for clues and artifacts to escape. The game’s eerie environments, combined with terrifying encounters with giant scarecrows, a possessed doll, a chainsaw-wielding maniac, and the vengeful witch herself, ensure a unique and terrifying experience with every playthrough. The game features music by Celldweller, the multifaceted musician known for his contributions to major motion pictures, TV, and video games including Transformers, Malignant, and Killer Instinct.
The Terror in the Corn video game is being developed by FreakZone Games (Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures and Spectacular Sparky) and Metal X Entertainment, a division of Bit Bot Media company. Bit Bot Media’s Kickstarter campaign for The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise graphic novel has raised more than 1.4 million dollars and is currently the fourth most funded graphic novel and comic book project of all time on Kickstarter.
“When the opportunity presented itself to be one of the first haunted attractions to expand its world into a comic book and video game, we immediately jumped on it,” says Michael Edwards, Operations Director for Terror in the Corn. “We were already familiar with Josh Viola’s body of work and knew a relationship with Bit Bot Media, Metal X Entertainment, and FreakZone Games meant that there would be a commitment to quality. And we were 100% spot on. The first issue of the comic book is amazing, and the video game far surpassed our expectations. Our entire team is excited to be sharing the terrifying story of Terror in the Corn with a whole new audience.”
In tandem with the game, Bit Bot Media and Metal X Entertainment are publishing a companion comic book titled The Wells Twins. Written by Joshua Viola, co-founder of Metal X Entertainment and Bit Bot Media, and Shirley Jackson Award nominee Sean Eads, with interior art by Juan Samu (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Star Wars), covers by Matthew Therrien (Soul Reaver, True Believers) and letters by Tom Napolitano (The Joker), the comic tells the haunting story of Charles and Mildred Wells—siblings and proprietors of the soon-to-open Wells Hotel and Wells Funeral Home. But these are no ordinary entrepreneurs; they are predators with dark intentions. The standard edition comic will be available through Bit Bot/Metal X's online store, with limited collector’s editions available exclusively at Anderson Farms’ Terror in the Corn, open now. The next issue will debut next Halloween season.
"As a longtime fan and regular attendee of the Terror in the Corn attraction, I was thrilled to help bring their vision to life through both a video game and comic book," says Joshua Viola. "The game is genuinely terrifying and expertly crafted jump scares keep you on edge. I can't decide which is scarier—the game or the haunt itself! The comic, on the other hand, expands the lore, delving deeper into the dark world behind the attraction and adding even more depth to the Terror in the Corn experience."
Terror in the Corn at Anderson Farms has been listed as a National Top Haunt by The Haunted Attraction Association since 2018 and Colorado's #1 Haunt for three consecutive years (2021-2023) by The Scare Factor, has terrified guests with its mile-long journey through a nightmarish cornfield. Set in the 1800s in the fictional town of Raven’s Gulch, the attraction’s deep lore follows the tale of the evil Wells twins and their battle with a vengeful witch who unleashes cursed creatures upon the town, creating a gripping backdrop for this new multi-media endeavor.
