The Games Continue With 'SAW XI' On September 27, 2024; Writers For 'SAW X' Not Returning
Tobin Bell returned as John Kramer aka Jigsaw in ‘SAW X’ and it was a huge success, not only in the box office ($107M worldwide) but also on Rotten Tomatoes where it currently sits with an 80% critic and 89% audience score.
So it should come as no surprise that Lionsgate is moving forward with even more “games” to play with the announcement of ‘SAW XI’ yesterday. Traditionally, SAW films were released around Halloween and it looks like the tradition is being carried over as SAW XI will hit theaters on September 27, 2024, almost exactly one year from the latest film’s release.
The news came across the official socials where the studio shared teaser art and the tagline: “The Game Continues…”
No director has been announced but I think it’s a safe bet that Kevin Greutert will return, as will Tobin Bell and likely Shawnee Smith as Amanda.
We’ve learned this week also that writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger penning the scripts for Jigsaw, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and this year’s Saw X, will NOT be returning for SAW XI.
Taking to Twitter in the wake of the Saw XI release date reveal from Lionsgate last night Stolberg himself spilled the beans.
Josh Stolberg tweets, “Pete [Goldfinger] and I are sitting this chapter out. Very excited to see this one as a fan of the franchise. I think people will be pleased with the team.”
No word yet on who will be writing or directing Saw XI. Stay tuned for more.
