"THE WINCHESTERS" Not Expanding Past Original 13 Episode Deal
The prequel to the CW smash hit, Supernatural, focusing on Sam and Dean Winchester’s parents entitled “The Winchesters” HAS NOT been picked up for more episodes past its original 13 that were pitched to the network.
Deadline reports…
“Faced with their first decision on ordering more of the CW’s existing scripted series, the network’s new Nexstar owners opted against it. I hear there will be no back orders for the CW’s new fall series Walker: Independence, from CBS Studios, and The Winchesters, from Warner Bros. Television, whose freshman seasons will remain at the original 13 episodes.”
“Supernatural” typically featured 20+ episodes per season, and it seems the debut season of “The Winchesters” was at one point looking at the same lengthy run. Now take in mind that this does not mean the show is not getting a second season, it just means that the series will have only 13 episodes and not the lengthier 20 episodes some fans were used to with Supernatural. Nothings been cancelled and the series is preforming well with fans as of now.
New episodes of “The Winchesters” premiere Tuesday nights on The CW.
“The Winchesters” will tell the epic story of how Sam and Dean’s parents John and Mary met, “and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.”
In the prequel series, “Mary (Meg Donnelly) is 19 years old and has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened hunter considers quitting the family business — until her father’s disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John (Drake Rodger) forces her to lead a new team. John has recently returned from Vietnam. Selfless and clear headed, he finds a new mission back home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter.”
Jensen Ackles will return to narrate the “Supernatural” prequel as Dean Winchester. “Supernatural” exec producer Robbie Thompson is writing and executive producing.
