Trick Or Treat Studios Releasing 'HALLOWEEN' Board Game This Summer
The Halloween franchise might be at a halt right now as far as films go with David Gordon Green’s conclusion to the franchise with ‘HALLOWEEN ENDS’ but that doesn’t mean our old pal Mikey Myers is gone from our hearts or homes as Trick Or Treat Studios has just announced a new board game for the iconic slasher series.
The upcoming game embraces the aesthetic and themes of John Carpenter's original 1978, with his The Thing previously having been the premise for the acclaimed The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 board game. The Halloween game is currently available for preorder through Trick or Treat Studios and is expected to start shipping on August 1st.
This timing is perfect because it sets things up so you and your closest friends can have a game night ‘HALLOWEEN’ style before October hits.
Trick or Treat Studios describes the game, "It was the night HE came home... and one player must take on the role of Michael Myers! The others will control Laurie and her friends as they scramble to find weapons, the kids, and a way to escape. Their task will be made more difficult because Myers can only be seen when you're looking right at him! This 1-vs.-Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi is the first time the original Halloween movie has been made into its own board game."
The question still remains, will we see more Halloween films in the future? According to John Carpenter, the franchise will continue for as long as it makes money.
"Let me explain the movie business to you: if you take a dollar sign and attach it to anything, there will be somebody who wants to do a sequel. It will live. If the dollar sign is not big enough, no matter what, it will not live.”
We’ll just have to be happy with a board game until that inevitable reboot/remake/retelling/revamp of Halloween comes out.
