Warner Bros. Developing remake for "THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK" With Director Ninja Thyberg
Remakes happen, it’s inevitable but one remake we didn’t know was heading our was was that of The Witches of Eastwick (1987). The film did moderately well at the box office and starred Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicklson.
Screen Daily reports that Warner Bros. is behind the remake/re-adaptation, and they’ve hired Ninja Thyberg (Pleasure) to write the script and direct the new take on the material.
The site notes, “Thyberg is about to start writing the script; it is not yet confirmed if her screenplay will be based on Miller’s version which was adapted by writer Michael Cristofer, or on John Updike’s 1984 novel of the same name on which the first film was based.”
In the 1987 movie, “Three single women in a picturesque village have their wishes granted, at a cost, when a mysterious and flamboyant man arrives in their lives.”
