AMC Renews Anne Rice's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE For A Third Season: Rockstar Lestat Confirmed!

AMC Networks

Are you ready to rock out with your fangs out? AMC has just announced that Anne Rice’s “INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE” has been renewed for a third season and we have all the info you need to sink your teeth into for the new season.

If people were talking about you behind your back, making wild accusations, and basically sullying your good name, would you be upset? Well, Lestat sure is and he is about to answer Louie and Armand’s “interview” with a statement of his own…in the form of a rock n roll band of course. The third season of Interview With The Vampire will have the vampire Lestat (Sam Reid) tell us the TRUE story of what really happened all those years ago.

If you’re a fan of Anne Rice, you know where season 3 is headed and it’s looking like we will finally get a modern take on her book “QUEEN OF THE DAMNED” as well as its predecessor, “THE VAMPIRE LESTAT” which most definitely confirms we will see some hinted at characters the series has teased us with these last two seasons.

While we have yet to hear anything in regards to new casting for season 3, AMC has given some insight into those aforementioned new characters in a press release sent to us today.

From The Press Release:

“In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller “Interview With The Vampire,” the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can—by starting a band and going on tour. Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”

AMC released a new promo poster for the announcement of the third season over on the official IG page and you can check that out below.

All the vampires are coming out of the woodwork, it seems, for season 3. We have Lestat’s mother, Gabrielle mentioned as well as his creator Magnus, and don’t forget Armand’s creator Marius. Now Marius is OLD, we’re talking pre-Roman era old, and of course that will lead us to “Those Who Must Be Kept” and you guessed it, Akasha. We saw Akasha on the big screen in 2002 when Aaliyah played her in ‘Queen Of The Damned’.

Many fans had issues with “Queen of The Damned” but everyone agreed that Aaliyah stole the show as the ancient Egyptian vampire queen and we have a strong feeling, whoever is cast as Akasha for season 3, will be just as defining as the last time we saw her grace our screens. No word on if Jonathan Davis from KORN will be reprising his role as the voice of Lestat which he did in Queen Of The Damned for the various musical numbers his band performed, but hey, who knows, maybe AMC can get the lead singer in between tours?

We have high hopes for season 3 of Interview With The Vampire and from the press release we were sent earlier, the execs over at AMC know exactly how important the series is to fans.

“When you buy the rights to 18 Anne Rice novels that have sold more than 150 million copies, in your wildest dreams you hope there’s a show as good as Interview on the other end,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “What Rolin has done with these stories and characters, working so closely with Mark, as the steward of this universe, has exceeded the loftiest version of our expectations. We can’t wait to see where this creative team takes the series from here and know we are walking alongside an incredibly loyal and passionate base of fans who feel as strongly about this material as we do.”

Rollin Jones (Showrunner) said: “Thank you to the brilliant casts and crews of the first two seasons that got us to this day. Thank you to the rabid, beautifully unwell fandom that scaled the castle walls to get us to this day. Thank you to Dan McDermott, Ben Davis for the funds and tools to continue the great work of dramatizing Anne Rice’s extraordinary novels. And sincere apologies to the family and friends of actor Sam Reid, for the possession that continues to this day. Monsieur L extends his promise to return his body upon cancellation (may that evening never come.)”
