Campers Are Getting Roasted In "MARSHMALLOW" (2025) And We Can't Wait (TRAILER)
Summer camps and slashers are the peanut butter and jelly of horror. Sure, you can argue that monster movies pre-date slashers and therefore should have the attribution of most common cliché, but it is almost undeniable that for at least 2 generations going to camp is as good as signing your death warrant. From “Friday the 13th” to the more recent “Don’t F*ck In The Woods” the tried-and-true tradition of a malevolent person or thing murdering kids at camp is still very much alive and well, and much of that is thanks to Andy Greskoviak, the writer behind one of our favorite films of the last 5 years, “Black Friday.” If you’re asking what America’s most commercial holiday and the confectionery delights of the “marshmallow” have in common, then we have a trailer for you!
“Marshmallow” from Hemlock Circle and Director Daniel DelPurgatorio, in his feature-debut looks to be the kind of slasher you always wish someone would make. One where the killer and the lore behind them aren’t just creepy, but believable, and one that appreciates how the slasher formula has changed over time to appreciate modern sensibilities. While we acknowledge our bias as being big fans of Greskoviak’s last film, we are confident that his quick-witted and authentic sense of humor will make a killer combo with the backdrop of kids at camp when “Marshmallow” hits theaters on April 4, 2025!
Synopsis
At a secluded summer camp, Morgan, a shy and introverted 12-year-old, is thrust into a living nightmare when a legendary campfire tale becomes real. As a mysterious figure begins stalking the camp, Morgan and his newfound friends must embark on a perilous journey that will force them to confront their deepest fears and question the very nature of their existence.
Starring Giorgia Whigham ("Ted"), Alysia Reiner ("OITNB"), Kai Cech (“Dear Santa”) and Corbin Bernsen ("L.A. Law") and more, Marshmallow follows a group of campers who find themselves fighting to make it out of camp alive after a horrific campfire tale comes to life before their very eyes.
