The Archie Comic universe is almost unrecognizable from the way it first started. Some of us at Macabre Daily are old enough to have read the short, Reader’s Digest-sized comics that were ubiquitous at grocery and convenience stores. Those comics focused on a more idealized, and simple way of life where life’s biggest concerns were trying to keep your main piece separate from your side piece. To say the comics have down a 180 isn’t entirely accurate, the newest iterations of Archie and the accompanying universe retain the characters and even visual style we know and love while introducing a more macabre, darker element into the storylines. All of this is a perfect landscape for the newest one-shot series featuring Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s cat, Salem!
This continuation of the previous one-shot sees Salem tackling some old accomplices who he may have banished to pet form. Now, they’re back and have more than a bone to pick with the titular black cat. Salem was once a powerful warlock whose misuse of powers led him to live the rest of his life in servitude, acting as a cat familiar to a family of witches.
