"FREAKY TALES" (2025) Gives Anthologies A Jolt Of Oakland Energy (TRAILER)
When people think of the Bay Area a lot of people just think of San Francisco, but as anyone from Northern California will tell you, don’t forget about Oakland. Home of A’s and former home of the Raiders, Oakland is one of the most diverse and interesting areas of California that often gets overlooked due to its adjacency to San Francisco. Despite what you may have heard, Oakland is a city like any other, but as one of the more populace areas in the state it has its own brand of weird. And Lionsgate is looking to explore that strangeness in their 80s themed anthology, “Freaky Tales.”
Starring familiar faces Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jay Ellis to name a few, this whacky anthology film seems like a mixture of “Four Rooms” and 2006’s “Running Scared” with a dash of genre elements. The cast alone give us a lot of hope, and the trailer promises something so intense that it would make a cave persons' head explode. Check out the trailer for yourself, and get ready to get freaky in theaters on April 4, 2025.
