HOSTEL TV Series Announced With PAUL GIAMATTI
Trips to Europe were never the same after Eli Roth’s Hostel was released in 2005 and the sequel in 2007. In a post-9/11 world, American tourism to Europe was in an interesting place with many US folk not feeling the warm welcome of their European brothers and sisters. Roth’s “Hostel” capitalized on the obnoxiousness that many Americans are known for and combined that with violent EuroHorror sensibilities to create an interesting tale of terror and tourism with a side of social commentary. The films were a hit, and now it seems we are getting more Hostel by way of TV!
The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Roth is developing a TV series based on his popular films, and is bringing along Paul Giamatti to assist. From the THR article,
“The Hostel show, which is currently in development and does not yet have a platform attached, is described as being a “modern adaptation” and an “elevated thriller” that’s also a “reinvention” of the horror franchise that launched in 2006 and spawned two sequels.”
Details are still sparse, but we will keep you updated as more information emerges!
