"NOSFERATU" Trailer Is Dark and Brooding, Just The Way We Want It! (TRAILER)

Focus Features

It’s been a long time coming but we finally have our first trailer for Robert Eggers’ upcoming take on the classic vampire tale, Nosferatu. The trailer hit theaters over the weekend and as expected, it is now online and sucking the life out of all horror sites covering it.

Now this vampire flick isn’t all doom and gloom, Focus Features is dropping the flick into theaters on December 25th, 2024, so you can celebrate XMAS vampire style, this year.

We won’t give anything away about the film but you finally get a shadowy glimpse at Bill Skarsgård playing Count Orlock, the Vampire antagonist of the flick and we must say, we appreciate that the trailer doesn’t give up the goods. It’s refreshing that a trailer can instill such a great sense of intrigue without falling victim to modern tactics of showing the marquee moments in the trailer.

The log line on YouTube for the trailer sums up the flick pretty well.

Robert Eggers’ NOSFERATU is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.

Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, and Lily-Rose Depp also star alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Simon McBurney, and Ralph Ineson.

Eggers wrote and directed the flick and if you’re a fan of him as a director, you know he does his homework on period pieces and Nosferatu is no different. Visually, Eggers seems to be referencing the Francis Ford Coppola school of vampire remakes by emphasizing set design, heavy use of shadows, and theatrical performances that are are as elegant as they are eccentric.

Our friends over at BloodyDisgusting have some pretty rad stills from the trailer you can check out here as well.
