New Book “Phantom Limbs” Collects The Stories Of Unmade Sequels!

Hell of a cover.

For most, horror sequels, prequels, and remakes, there’s a story about a different version that almost came to be.  Author Jason Jenkins explored these in his “Phantom Limbs” column for Bloody Disgusting, along with interviews from the creatives behind them.  Now he’s assembled the first volume into a new book. Coming this Spring from From Encyclopocalypse Publications, Jenkins collects the columns for the first time in print!

From the press release:

Writer Jason Jenkins’ horror-themed non-fiction web column is resurrected in hardcover, paperback, audiobook and eBook this Spring!

Encyclopocalypse Publications (Sausages: The Making of Dog Soldiers, Manborg: The Novelization, Long Weekend: The Novelization) will release Jason Jenkins’ Phantom Limbs in hardcover, paperback, audiobook and eBook on April 2nd, 2024

Originally a column on popular horror website Bloody Disgusting, Phantom Limbs is the inaugural volume of a planned series of books which will explore the histories of unmade horror movie sequels and remakes and the stories they would have told.

Jenkins, seen here after raiding the script cabinets of Dimension Films.

I’ve always been drawn to the stories behind unmade movies,” says Jenkins, “going all the way back to my early days as a horror nerd reading about Peter Jackson’s unrealized Nightmare on Elm Street sequel in an old Fangoria back in the 90s.  It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be able to speak with so many brilliant creatives about their own unproduced genre works and to help usher their stories along to fellow fans.”

Featuring lengthy interviews, detailed synopses and concept artwork/posters, Phantom Limbs will cover unmade extensions to popular horror franchises such as Halloween, Predator, Psycho, Resident Evil, Saw, The Shining, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.  This initial volume will also include chats with such genre luminaries as Mike Flanagan, Mick Garris, Alan B. McElroy, Jeffrey Reddick, Stephen Susco, and many others!

Sean Duregger, Managing Editor of Encyclopocalypse had this to say of Phantom Limbs, “Mark Alan Miller and I adored Jason’s column at Bloody Disgusting and it’s been a treat bringing it to horror fans in the expanded form only a book can give you. I’m personally excited to add this alongside all of my other revered Horror Nonfiction on my bookshelf.”

Phantom Limbs will be available directly from Encyclopocalypse Publications in eBook and Print at www.encyclopocalypse.com (BuyHorrorBooks.com) or from your favorite bookseller. The audiobook version will be available exclusively from Audible or Apple Books.
